Collection: Mala Bead Necklaces

Mala bead necklaces, also known simply as malas or prayer beads, are traditional strings of beads used primarily in meditation, prayer, and mindfulness practices. Originating in ancient India and widely used in Hinduism, Buddhism, and other spiritual traditions, malas serve both functional and symbolic purposes.

🔹 Basic Structure

  • 108 Beads: The standard mala necklace contains 108 beads, a sacred number in many Eastern traditions, symbolizing spiritual completion or the number of earthly desires to overcome.

  • Guru Bead: A larger bead or pendant, called the guru bead or meru bead, marks the start and end of the mala. It's not counted among the 108 and signifies a pause or moment of reflection.

  • Tassel or Pendant: Many malas are finished with a tassel or charm, symbolizing enlightenment, unity, or spiritual connection.
